It’s been a while since I’ve been able to do a proper update. As regular followers of my social media networks will know, although the website has been quiet, I certainly haven’t been – and have continuously been kept busy for the last several months. Lots has been happening, and there’s plenty more to come. Even now as I write, I’m currently editing a series of several shoots that I did over this past week in London, and includes fitness models, actors and businessmen.
A couple of months ago on Facebook I announced that I am working on a new series entitled “Boys of the World.” This puts my love of travel and portrait photography together, and I plan to work with various models from as many different countries as possible – not always in their home country, but definitely whenever possible. Over the past several months I have been in Norway, Spain, Italy, France and Portugal and I am about to leave for a three week vacation to the USA. While there I’ll be travelling to Orlando, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New York City. Keep your eyes open, as I have several model friends over there!
Christmas and the New Year will see me travel to The Netherlands, Caribbean, Australia, Brazil, Chile, New Zealand, Philippines and Hong Kong, although I’ll be back in the UK occasionally. Shoot dates for the UK are now quite well sought after, London in particular, so if you feel you’re a great fit for the series please get in touch. I won’t always be able to reply to messages due to the amount and time constraints, but I’ll try my best. When leaving messages, please help me out by including a social media link or a link to photographs.
Over the next couple of months I’ll be updating on a more regular basis, and also will be backdating some of my posts to reflect the actual time the shoots took place, so make sure to read back through posts occasionally in case you miss something. The members area will also be updated more often and will include extra photos from certain shoots, and eventually the Model of the Week series will move that way too as part of my archives.
Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram – @LifeLivingColor, or by using the link at the side of the page. This is the fastest way of keeping updated with new work. You can also add me on Snapchat to see exclusive behind the scenes snaps and keep up to date on my travels.
Josh got in touch with me after seeing my work on Facebook, and was interested in some kind of collaboration. He is doing a foundation art degree, covering many aspects including photography and I offered to have him come along and assist with one of my shoots. Being that he has done a lot of photography, Josh was interested to see things from the model’s point of view and how to work with people to get the best out of them. I had some time available so he came by. The shoot was also an experiment in differing art and editing styles, which explains the wide range used here.
In the future, Josh aspires to be a fashion photographer and takes inspiration from the famous photographer Karl Lagerfield. After his course in Surrey has come to end end, he will head to either Bournemouth Arts or Nottingham Trent to continue his studies – and then hopefully some travel before ultimately settling in the United States.
Josh turned out to be a very down-to-earth and immediately likeable guy, and actually really enjoyed being in front of the camera for a change rather than behind it. Being used to photography, Josh was interested in picking out the images, and we had several differing views on the final shots! Because models are usually critiquing themselves, and photographers are critiquing the overall image, it’s not often that I hand over too much input on the final selection, unless of course a client is looking for a very particular image.
We both hope you all enjoy the final images!
Nick is a model with Fusion Management in London. He got in touch with me after I put out an open casting call for this series. I don’t often put out open calls as I’m usually inundated with messages and usually don’t find the right look that I’m after. Nick has great characteristics, an ease in front of the camera, and open to ideas. He also has a fantastic physique which definitely helps!
Aside from modelling, Nick is also a keen sportsman and plays a variety of sports including Football, Rugby, Basketball, Badminton, Tennis and Squash. He’s at home on the snow too, and is a capable snowboarder and skier. His own fitness is of great importance to him as he currently works as a personal trainer.
The shoot was relaxed and laid back, and we managed a few different settings as you’ll see from the images below.

As regular visitors to Life in Living Color will notice, I enjoy working with a wide variety of models from a range of different backgrounds, including performers, fitness models, fashion models and even Elliptical ProForm Reviews 2015 from newcomers to the modelling world. The fitness world in particular is a very tight community and while it’s very competitive, the people are generally very supportive of each other and are welcoming into their network. Charlie is no exception to the rule and is particularly professional, not just in regards to the shoot, but also in regards to his interaction with his social media followers. You can find him on Facebook at CharlieLondonFitness.
I invited Charlie down for the shoot, and as he was coming a fair way invited him to bring along a friend along. It turned out he knew my friend and previous model Chris Baxter and was meeting him anyway for a shoot with Beyond Genetics. Chris is always fun to shoot with, and I made sure to get a few duo shots that you can see in the gallery below. Many of the shoot suggestions were Charlie’s, prior to arriving he sent along a few images as a mood board and we worked with those as well as a few spur-of-the-moment ideas.
Outside of his model career, Charlie works as a personal trainer in London and also as a promoter through social media, promoting various clothing for up and coming brands. As a model, he had clearly done his research on my work, noting that I book models face first, body second which is very true. Fortunately Charlie is one of the few people for whom face and body really are both photogenic. Enjoy the Q&A video below with Charlie and Chris, and let me know what you think of the gallery!
Having worked his gap year as a Detainee Custody Officer, Josh is currently studying criminology at Brighton University. Alongside his studies, Josh is a keen competitive sportsman and is actively involved in several sports including football and golf. He names travelling the world as one of his goals in life, and made a great start by putting his passions together to help build a new school in Kenya. I was introduced to Josh through a previous model, Will, and was very glad of the introduction.
Surprisingly, Josh hasn’t had a great deal of modelling experience before, but was a natural in front of the camera and had a few great suggestions of his own. We ended up shooting a range of different looks over the course of about four hours and had a lot of fun with it – as you can see from the images. I’ve always wanted to put together some “Tumblr” style images, which is where the idea for the hashtag writing came from. The word choices were from Instagram’s most popular tags – a preview image has already gained a high number of views.
Having lived over in Florida for several years, I seem to have lots of American style props laying around, so we worked with the flags and cowboy hat too. To round out the shoot, we did several standard shots, both underwear and fully dressed so as to show off Josh’s natural versatility. Enjoy the Q&A video and the gallery below, and as always feel free to send a message to let me know what you thought of the collection!

Zac Aynsley suggest the best gym rowing machine and this one is coming from one of the UK’s most recognisable faces in the fitness world, with a Facebook fan base of almost a quarter of a million, as well as more than fifty thousand followers on Instagram. Part of his popularity is due to his easy-going and open personality – comfortable with people of all diversities. Another part is due to his incredible physique that he puts down to hard work and a great mental attitude towards training. Several months ago he started a new YouTube channel which is increasing in popularity – there’s a link to his channel at the end of the video below. His fans range from aspiring fitness competitors to admirers of the male physique, and he’s in high demand for various projects – he was recently flown out for a trip around the USA with several high profile fitness photographers.Zac and I had been chatting for a while prior to actually getting out and shooting – he’s not in London often, so it was great to finally catch up with him. It ended up being a very last minute shoot, he wasn’t expecting to be in London, and I had an hour and a half to get ready and meet him in the city and I’m so very glad I hadn’t any plans for that afternoon. We headed across to Battersea Park area, as Zac was staying nearby anyway, and used several locations along the edge of the river. We hope you enjoy the video and new images!
